The Desert Horticultural Society of the Coachella Valley will be hosting a desert landscaping workshop on October 15.
Home gardeners will gather at the University of California, Riverside’s Palm Desert Campus, to watch demonstrations and participate in workshops to design and keep gardens suitable for desert and drought.
According to Horticultural Society media coordinator Bruce Larson, the list of courses includes do-it-yourself grass removal, pruning techniques, tips for growing vegetables in the desert, the best irrigation practices and garden design.
This year’s gathering features a special guest: Johanna Silver, garden editor for Sunset magazine, which will talk about its latest book on low-water gardening.
The one-day event is free and sponsored by UCR Palm Desert.
